You can clearly see the changing housing values and the number of new houses built in Alpine Meadows South.  As Whistler's popularity increases more people realize that Whistler is a viable investment opportunity.  The prices have consequently increased dramatically from 1980.  For example,  the average housing price in 1980 was between $79,000 - $105,000, in 1990, $160,000 - $245,000 and in 2000, $109,000 - $225,000.  It is evident that average housing price actually dropped from 1990 - 2000.  There are many reasons for this, including market trends, economic factors, demographic changes and most certainly restricted housing, which will be touched on further in the restricted housing section.
